"Let G-Om" Saturday Sangha Yoga

“Let G-Om” Sunday Sangha Class

In Pantanjali’s sacred text, “The Yoga Sutras,” he outlines an 8-fold path, known as the Eight Limbs of Yoga, which includes the third (asana/poses) and fourth (pranayama/breathwork) limbs that are most familiar to yoga students.  Together, the Eight Limbs provide a rich framework for our yoga practice on the mat, and for restoring us to unity of body, mind and spirit in our lives.

This month, Saturday Sangha classes are focused on the first limb of the 8-fold path:  the Yamas, which are ethical standards, sometimes referred to as moral restraints.  The Yamas are essentially moral guidelines regarding how to live in the world and interact with others.  The fifth and final Yama is “Aparigraha” which teaches the importance of nonattachment, or non-possessiveness.  It is an instruction to recognize and release our subtle attachments to patterns of being, thinking and reacting that limit our peace and freedom.  By practicing aparigraha, we unpack expectations and create internal space to live in greater harmony with ourselves and with others.

In this all levels class, we will move mindfully through a sequence of asanas (poses) to cultivate freedom and flexibility in our bodies.  Class will conclude with meditation and a luxurious savasana (resting pose).

Individual classes are $15 and payment can be sent via Venmo to SandyPauseYoga. See “Pricing and Packages” page for additional information. All classes are listed in central (CST) time.
